Digital Media Device Policy

South Ogden Jr. High school has a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ policy (BYOD) for use of any DMD in school.  The only exception will be any DMD that is checked out by the media center or teacher (i.e. Kindles).  Students will be able to connect to the Wi-Fi in the school and log onto it by using their student ID Name and Password.  Acceptable DMD’s includes such devices as Kindles, I-Pods, MP3’s, I-pads, Tablets, and/or Smart Phones.   The district AUP policy will still be enforced whenever a student logs onto SOJH’s Wi-Fi including any personal device.

Use of DMD’s within the classroom is up to the discretion of each teacher.  DMD’s are to be used for educational purposes within the classroom with teacher’s permission and not for entertainment.  Any unauthorized use and/or device misused or disruptive to the educational process will be taken and/or any future use of the device may be placed upon the student.  Any devices taken from students will be under the same consequences as found in the Cell Phone section.  Personal DMD’s use will follow the same policy as found in the Cell Phone use section and are not to be used for phoning, texting, photographing, videoing, or chatting during school hours.
